Leah Huizar is a Mexican-American writer and poet originally from Southern California. She holds an MFA from The Pennsylvania State University and is an assistant professor of English at Drake University in Des Moines Iowa.
Her debut collection of poems, Inland Empire, is available now from Noemi Press. These poems center women, latinidad, and the landscape of Southern California. They take the language of myth to tell its stories.
Leah’s work has been published in Acentos Review, Crab Orchard Review, Nimrod International Journal, Hayden’s Ferry Review, and elsewhere.
